블루메미술관은 2013년 헤이리 예술마을에 개관한 경기도 등록의 비영리 사립미술관입니다. 살아있는 나무를 감싸안고 지어진 바이오필릭(Biophillic) 건축의 모습대로 블루메미술관은 자연과 연결되는 미술관이 되고자 합니다. 자연에 대한 다양한 관점의 수집소가 되어 서로 다른 점들을 잇고 새로운 관점을 낳는 영감의 장이 되고자 합니다. 현대미술과 디자인을 통해 자연의 여러 스펙트럼을 해석하고 소통하며 도시사회안에서 생명과 자연에 대한 감수성을 일깨우는 다양한 경험의 그라운드가 될 것입니다.
2017년 정원문화에 관한 현대미술전시를 시작으로 2019년에는 미술관 마당공간에 자연주의 정원이 상설작품으로 설치되며 블루메미술관은 정원이 자연을 향한 하나의 창이 될 수 있음을 이야기해 왔습니다. 자연을 바라보고, 만나고, 이해하는 더 많은 창들을 탐색해가기 위해 화이트 큐브 전시장과 더불어 두 개의 정원, 그리고 ‘정원의 방’이라는 프로젝트 공간이 또 하나의 전시장이 되어 화두의 영역을 확장해줄 것입니다.  연결을 상징하는 새로운 BI와 함께 미술관의 주요활동들은 대상과 목적에 맞춰 자연과의 연계점들을 향해 유기적으로 움직입니다. 사회, 문화의 다양한 분야와 접점을 생성해가며 전시는 주제와 형태의 폭을 확장하고 연구적 성격의 전시를 통해 담론을 축적해갑니다. 교육은 생의 단계별 자연과 조우하는 서로 다른 방식들을 포착해내며 미술관 경험을 통해 타인과 공감하고 자연에 대한 지성과 감성이 발달해가는 과정을 중시합니다. 전시와 교육 그리고 다양한 형태의 콘텐츠 경험을 통해 블루메미술관은 자연으로 이어지고, 나아가고, 관계 맺으며 공존의 가치를 지향하는 삶의 감각들을 키워내고자 합니다.



설립자 소개


백순실 작가 (1951년 광주 출생)
서울대 회화과를 졸업한 후 서울, 뉴욕, 파리 등에서 41회 개인전을 가졌으며, 광주비엔날레, 국제판화비엔날레, 현대한국회화전, 한국현대미술50년 조망전 등 다수의 단체전에 참가했습니다.
30년 가까이 계속해온 <동다송(東茶頌)> 연작을 통해 차를 노래하는 작가로 널리 알려져 있으며 또한 우리 고유의 소리를 형상화한 <한국의 소리> 시리즈를 시작으로 세계 유명 작곡가들의 ‘음악’을 형상화하는 작업을 계속해오며 소리와 하나가 되는 그림 연작을 창작의 한 축으로 삼고 있습니다. 그의 작품들은 국립현대미술관, 서울시립미술관, 리움, 삼성의료원, 벽산그룹 등에 소장되어 있습니다.

Blume Museum of Contemporary Art (BMCA) that opened in Heyri Art Valley in 2013 is a nonprofit private art museum registered in Gyeonggi-do. Built based on the concept of biophilic architecture, the museum building housing a living tree is designed to integrate with nature and bring together a wide variety of perspectives towards nature, serving as a site of inspiration. The museum will be a ground for diverse experiences that will arouse a sense of life and help us connect with nature in our urban society.  BMCA has created a window on nature with its naturalist garden installed as a permanently displayed artwork in 2019, starting from its exhibition of contemporary art pertaining to garden culture in 2017. Its white cube exhibit hall, the two gardens, and the project space called the “Garden Room” will help expand the range of its subjects and topics while exploring more ways to see, meet and understand nature. With its newly established BI, the museum’s principle activities will be carried out organically towards a connection with nature. The museum’s exhibitions will extend the sphere of their subjects and forms interfacing with various sectors of society and culture and amass discourses and topics through their research. Its educational programs are designed to provide different  ways to encounter nature and lay stress on developing an appreciation and sensibility concerning nature. The museum tries to reinforce its relationship with nature and cultivate the sense of life, seeking the value of coexistence through its art shows, educational programs, and experiences of diverse content.


Introduction to the Founder


BAIK Soon Shil
After graduating from Seoul National University, artist Baik Soon Shil held 41 solo shows in Seoul, New York, Paris and many others, and participated in a host of biennales and group exhibitions such as the Gwangju Biennale, the International Print Biennale, the Korean Contemporary Painting Exhibition, and Fifty Years of Korean Modern Art. Extensively known as the artist of tea with the Dongdasong series she has done for almost 30 years, Baik has been continuously involved in the figuration of sounds intrinsic to Korea with her series Sounds in Korea as well as classical music by world renowned composers. This painting series that integrates with sound has been one of her pivotal creations. Her works are collected by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, the Seoul Museum of Art, Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, Samsung Medical Center, Byuksan Group headquarter building, and others.
